🎓 Celebrating Community Leadership: 31 Graduates of the WCWLN Program 🌊

On April 19, 2025, we proudly celebrated the graduation of 31 dedicated community residents from the Walnut Creek Watershed Learning Network (WCWLN)—a powerful initiative led by Partners for Environmental Justice (PEJ) and supported by Planning Ahead.

This year’s theme, “Foundations of Water Education,” was more than a curriculum—it was a catalyst for change. Designed and facilitated by Planning Ahead, the course blended theory with real-world application, equipping participants with both the knowledge and the tools to become stewards of their communities.

Throughout the program, each participant took on the challenge of designing and presenting a community-based project focused on environmental improvement, resilience, and education. These presentations were powerful testaments to the hard work, creativity, and vision of our cohort—and a reflection of what happens when learning is paired with purpose.

👏🏽 To our graduates: Your commitment to environmental justice, community engagement, and sustainability is nothing short of inspiring. Your voices, ideas, and leadership are already making an impact, and we can’t wait to see what you do next.

💚 A heartfelt thank you to our incredible partners—the City of Raleigh Office of Sustainability, City of Raleigh Stormwater, and NOAA—for believing in PEJ's WCWLN mission and making this program possible.

Let’s continue to uplift community-driven solutions and create pathways for environmental leadership at the grassroots level.
